Description
In order to conduct the experimental project related to the FAPESP grant #2008/04970-6, it is necessary to adequate the recently purchased Infrared Spectroscope (FTIR) for the purposes established in the project. For this reason, the equipment will be subjected to the so-called Calibration Curve, which consists of a spectral analysis of pure monomers and mixtures with known molar concentrations of aliphatic and aromatic carbon double-bonds. By doing so, it is possible to calculate the ration between aromatic and aliphatic carbon double bonds, which are located at 1608 e 1638 cm-1 in the FTIR spectrum, respectively, and calculate their molar concentrations as well. According to Prof. Rueggeberg\'s estimation, the time required for such procedure may be approximately 5 days. Besides, as the invited professor is an international reference in the research toward to polymers and polymerization modes of all resinous materials widely used in Dentistry, the professor was also invited to give some lectures about the most recent findings in his expertise field to students, clinicians, and other professors. The lectures will be given in Guarulhos and Piracicaba. Therefore, the first five days of his stay in Brazil will be directed to the FTIR Calibration Curve, while the other four days will be directed to the lectures described above. (AU)
