Abstract
The business of anesthesia is a continually evolving entity, as the role of the anesthesiologist has consistently expanded in both inpatient and outpatient management over time. In an effort to maintain their utility in the dynamic field that is medicine, anesthesiologists have developed new skills and adjusted their practice models to cater recent changes. In this chapter, we outline the different variety of anesthesia groups in today’s practice, business entities, and types of contracts. We also explore the recent trend of anesthesia practice consolidation and its implications on the independent and academic anesthesia practice.
