Abstract

In this study, the effect of orientation on the hardness and elastic recovery of a transparent Nylon was investigated. It was found that the indentation hardness and the elastic recovery increased with the degree of orientation. From indentation and recovery procedures, the elastic property (elastic modulus) and the plastic properties (yield stress and strain hardening exponent) were calculated and compared with values obtained from true stress-strain behavior in tension. The mechanical properties calculated from the indentation procedure were found to be in good agreement with the tensile properties.
