Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to present preliminary correlative electron microscopic and histologic data of a five year comparative dental implant investigation. This experimental animal study utilizes one (1S) and two (2S) stage cylindrical titanium (Ti) and ceramic (Ce) implants and 1 and 2 stage titanium blade implants (1SBL and 2S BL). Preliminary ultrastructural and LM observations from this study has demonstrated the healthy adaptation of apical support tissues to various endosteal dental implants. This adequate tissue response was confirmed by concurrent clinical and radiographic observations.
