Abstract
The logic of using the Jourard Self-disclosure Questionnaire is discussed from a factor analytic construct approach. A modified form of this questionnaire was administered to a large sample of high school students and subjected to factor analysis. Four independent dimensions emerged: Revealing General Information, Revealing Sexuality to Parents, Revealing Personal Information, and Revealing Sexuality to Peers. Females disclose more than males on the first and third dimension while the opposite was observed for the second and fourth. Implications concerning the further use of this questionnaire with adolescents are discussed.
