N2 - What impact do pharmacists have on processes of care in health care and on patient outcomes? This critical question has been the focus of much pharmacy practice research in Canada, the United States, Europe, Australia, and elsewhere, in particular since the revolutionary paper by Hepler and Strand on. pharmaceutical care in 1990. McLean reviewed the literature on these pharmacist intervention studies up to 1997, including many based in Canada, in an article that appeared in this journal in 1998. Since then, numerous other pharmacist intervention studies have been conducted in Canada which have added to the evidence supporting the value of pharmacists.
