Laryngeal manifestations of AIDS

Abstract

Since the recognition of AIDS in 1981, the epidemic has become global. As the number of infected individuals increases and as advances in therapy continue, it is anticipated that greater numbers of patients will present to otolaryngologists with laryngeal manifestations of AIDS. Although individuals with AIDS are still prone to the common maladies that affect each of us, there are numerous opportunistic infections and neoplasms that the practitioner must be cognizant of in order to provide optimal care for these patients.
