Nafarelin for Treatment of Endometriosis

To the Editor: Henzl et al. (Feb. 25 issue)¹ report on a multicenter double-blind comparative clinical trial of nafarelin and danazol for the treatment of endometriosis. The study design used preoperative laparoscopy to assess the initial extent of disease and a second-look laparoscopic examination to assess the extent of residual endometriosis. As would be expected, therapy with either nafarelin or danazol resulted in a significant reduction in the endometriosis score as calculated with use of the American Fertility Society's classification system.
