Abstract

In this chapter, we explore the role of the academic health center (AHC) within the larger university, discuss governance issues and opportunities, and explore how university presidents and AHC leaders can work synergistically to create a unified cultural and corporate identity. The chapter also reviews pathways to leadership and the common core competencies that make for a successful partnership.
