Discusses the primary care diagnosis of thyroid disease. Two types of immunometric thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) assays commonly used in clinical practice; Indications for the use of a sensitive TSH assays; TSH-based evaluation of patient with suspected thyroid dysfunction; Recommended approach for screening thyroid function in hospitalized patients.
