Rheumatoid arthritis drugs for schizophrenia?

Any relationship between treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and the current treatment of schizophrenia seems, at first glance, far-fetched. And yet, in a relatively short period of intensive research work, the field of schizophrenia research has come to appreciate that there are fundamental immunological associations with schizophrenia. Several groups have conducted studies of antirheu-matic drugs—from various nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs to more selective anticytokine monoclonal antibodies—in patients with schizophrenia. The results and focus of this work are detailed in this article.
