Single-unit cement-retained implant restorations

The use of cemented crowns for single-unit implants is a well-proven and predictable treatment modality with little risk or complication. The dangers of peri-implantitis are easily managed by following the "key criteria" outlined in this paper (Figure 16). Cement-retained implant restorations are not ideal for all treatment scenarios, but when indicated, they can be done with a high level of success, backed by evidence. It is imperative that the clinician understand the risks involved with all treatment options and select the option that is most likely to produce a viable long-term success with the minimal amount of risk (Tables 2 and 3) (Figures 17 to 19).
