Abstract

The article discusses the American author Flannery O'Connor, with particular focus given to the influence of her background as a Southerner and a devout Catholic on her work. An overview of the social, religious, and political circumstances of the American South during her life is presented, and the influence of Christianity on the Southern consciousness is examined.
