Abstract

The University of Washington's Department of Computer Science and Engineering (UW CSE) integrated the emerging field of wireless sensor networks into its undergraduate computer engineering curriculum. The project, so-called Flock of Birds, integrates the theory and practice of wireless sensor networks into the mainstream curriculum early enough to form a basis for all students' understanding of embedded computing. Initial results reveal that the project is a success from an instructional perspective.
