Abstract

Sensitive diagnostic modalities, including urinary hCG testing and transvaginal ultrasonography, have allowed clinicians the opportunity to detect ectopic gestation at an earlier time. As a result, conservative treatment has become more practical. The evolution from the more radical surgical approaches to conservative measures, including medicinal therapy, is discussed.
