Abstract

The ultrastructural changes of the cell membranes in isolated rat hearts and cultured myocytes following treatment with exogenous H₂O₂ is evaluated in the study. Findings suggest that blebs originated from the sarcolemmal membranes undergoing lipid peroxidation and these blebs play an important role in the 'NO-reflow' phenomenon commonly observed after ischemia/repurfusion.
