Abstract

The article focuses on how creative writing can be used in young adult literature (YAL) methods courses to help preservice teachers (PSTs) develop their identities as both writers and educators. Topics include integrating creative writing with deep reading of diverse YAL, using writing to reflect on identity and community, and preparing PSTs to teach writing through personal storytelling and counterstorytelling.
