Peer-reviewAbstract
Haemophilus aphrophilus is an uncommon cause of human infection. Brain abscess, endocarditis, abdominal wound infections, and infections associated with the oropharynx are the most commonly reported presentations in children. The presentation and management of a child who developed a soft tissue infection of the leg associated with H. aphrophilus are presented in this paper. High dose parenteral penicillin appears to be the drug of choice in H aphrophilus infections pending results of broth or agar dilution sensitivities.
