Abstract

Objective: To determine whether antisperm antibody results obtained from a serum sample tested when received are comparable to the results obtained when the same serum sample is frozen and stored at -20°C before testing. Methods: Sera from 17 patients were evaluated for antisperm antibodies by immunobead binding. Each sample was tested fresh, and simultaneously an aliquot was frozen and analyzed by the same methodology at a later date. Results: No significant difference was observed in antisperm antibody binding between fresh and frozen serum samples. A significant difference was found in the variation between fresh and frozen samples if different sperm donors were used for testing the same patient. Conclusion: Results of antisperm antibody testing on frozen sera accurately reflects the presence of antisperm antibodies.
