Abstract

Serum obtained from a 31-year-old black female resident of the United States contained 3.39 ng aflatoxin B1 per ml. No other aflatoxin metabolites were detected. Although the source was not identified, the toxin was apparently environmentally ingested. The patient was suffering from primary hepatic carcinoma, and her serum contained hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg).
