Abstract
A convolution-subtraction method to remove the downscatter counts in the 70 keV projection data is proposed. First, the scatter response function (SRF) is derived by fitting the Monte Carlo simulated downscatter data acquired in the 70 keV window for Tc-99m point source located in a uniform elliptical cylinder. Then, the derived SRF is convolved with the reconstructed 140 keV image to obtain the spatial distribution of downscatter counts in the 70 keV window. Finally, the downscatter distribution is subtracted from the 70 keV data to obtain the compensated data.
