Abstract
Sublethal effects of organophosphorous pesticide monocrotophos on the activity of Acid (EC. 3.1.3.2) and alkaline phosphatase (EC. 3.1.3.1) in brain and gills of A. testudineus were studied. A significant increase in the activities of acid and alkaline phosphatase in the brain and gills were observed. The impact on phosphatase activity was high in the fishes exposed to the highest of the three sublethal concentrations.
