Abstract

Hopefully, this article has given you some ideas for your practice. Why don't you make a list right now of three things that you plan to adopt in your practice - for example, subscribe to an information service, contact at least three electronic prescribing vendors for estimates, and get broadband access for the computers in your clinic. Begin to place more value on the questions that you ask in your practice and answer important ones with the best available evidence. Talk to your partners about the pros and cons of an EMR. The journal Family Practice Management has a terrific toolkit that includes calculators and spreadsheets for helping you make this decision, as well as lots of charting tools to make your practice more systematic (http://www.aafp.org/x20091.xml). Time to get started!
