Advances in the techniques and clinical applications of noninvasive cardiac imaging have made it possible to achieve gender equivalence in the detection and prognostication of coronary artery disease in women. In particular, the widespread use of technetium myocardial perfusion agents with electrocardiographic gating of cardiac function has improved specificity and reduced false-positive rates in this population.
