Abstract
Persistent vascular deposition of immunoglobulin and complement indicates irreversible vasculitis and impending graft loss. Peripheral blood helper/suppressor cell ratios are not predictive of graft rejection in patients treated with cyclosporin-A and prednisone. Allograft rejection is accompanied by tissue infiltration with OKT8+ lymphocytes. Natural killer cells and monocytes do not appear to be important in rejection of cardiac allografts.
