Abstract

A term newborn was transferred to our institution following emergency cesarean section with a severe scalping laceration. Bedside repair of the injury was successful with good results. Most recent follow-up reveals no functional deficits. This report discusses a repair technique, as well as a review of the literature regarding risk factors, prevention, classification, and potential adverse effects of fetal injury during cesarean delivery.
